The Next Four Years

Group of six people standing in a city hall meeting room.

Savage has accomplished important work, so what's next?  We need to turn plans into progress.

Converting Plans to Action

Savage has completed important long-term planning work, including the Parks Master Plan and downtown visioning process.  We need to continue working toward implementation by:

  • Identifying priorities
  • Evaluating funding options
  • Establishing realistic timelines
  • Making responsible investments in our community

Planning is important - the next step is making progress.

Continue Strengthening Public Safety

Pressures on our police and fire departments are at an all time high and our community's emergency response needs will continue to evolve. We will continue supporting thoughtful planning for the future of our fire department and emergency services, including a staffing model that provides reliable response capacity and is financially sustainable for the long term.

Keep Pushing on Highway 13

Highway 13 improvements have been a long-term priority for Savage. It is imperative that we continue working with MnDOT and regional partners to find the funding needed to complete the remaining improvements planned for the section of Highway 13 through Savage, and we be mindful of the impacts of those improvements on our downtown residents and businesses.

Protect Savage's Financial Sustainability

Every new initiative comes with a cost, and even keeping what we currently have costs more each year. I believe Savage should continue making investments that improve our community while carefully considering long-term financial sustainability and the impact of decisions on taxpayers. A newly created financial model is nearly built out, which will provide a better look at recurring costs and "the big picture" to help us make more informed decisions. We are proud of our AAA rating, and we want to be mindful of financial impacts on our residents and businesses.

Support a Strong Business Community

Savage should be a place where businesses want to invest, grow, and stay. As a former Economic Development Manager, I will continue supporting a business-friendly environment that encourages responsible investment while protecting the character and quality of life that make Savage a great place to live.
